This summer in Portland, the weather has been so perfect: alternating days of mid-70s coolness and low-to-mid-80s sunniness. I’ve heard “June gloom” and “bummer summer” used by fellow Portlanders, but I could not have designed a more ideal climate if I tried. There has never been a time where it was in the high 80s and I’ve said: “This is great, but you know what would be even better? If it were just a little bit hotter.” Never. Not once. Keep it up, Portland!
Here is some of what we’ve been up to this summer:
Milo enjoying a cup of strawberry lemonade in Overlook Park, the halfway point of our Sunday Parkways walk:
Check out the bike parking!
We were one of the only families we saw walking; almost everyone bikes it. I am planning to be on rollerskates for the September 25th Sunday Parkways Northeast. Will I see you there?
Speaking of strawberries, one of the best side effects of this mild summer is that my strawberry plant thinks that it’s still strawberry season! All of the local farms stopped selling strawberries in early July, but the strawberry plant in our front yard has been yielding 8-20 strawberries a week all summer:
For my birthday, I had breakfast at Juniors with my dudes:
And then I went roller skating (naturally) with some of my ladies:
And that only gets us through July! I will need a whole other post for August.
What have been some of your favorite summer memories so far?
