I’m Joanna. I live in Austin, TX with my husband Matt and our five-year-old Milo. I am an email marketer by profession. When I’m not doing that, I can be found: cooking; reading; doing puzzles with Milo; playing board games with my friends; watching Parks and Rec on the couch with my husband; seeking out the next swimming hole; drinking margaritas; playing recreational roller derby; or just puttering around.

I’ve written two vegan cookbooks: Yellow Rose Recipes, which was published by Herbivore in 2007, and Yellow Rose Greatest Hits, which I self-published in 2011.

I’ve had a personal website since 1994, when I was 16, and this is the latest incarnation: part journal, part inspiration board, part scrapbook, part glorified to-do list. These days, I’m mostly keeping it for myself as a record, reminder, and motivational tool. If you read it, like it, and it adds anything to your life: yay!

You can find me in all of the usual places: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

  2. What a nice website/blog you have. I’m a once a week vegan and as such am always fumbling around making mistakes on the vegan front, but also looking for good, yummy vegan recipes and yours appear awesome. Thanks for enjoying food, experimenting with food and sharing the results.

  3. Hi,
I found an older version of your blog when I was a student at A&M a million years ago…I think you had written a review of a blue october album or something and I followed your writing for a few years as I moved on to grad school. You were my source for hipster music before being a hipster was cool…thanks to you I knew about Death Cab for Cutie and a few other great bands WAY before my friends did. So imagine my surprise when I’m googling for vegan recipes and you show up again! Small world. Glad to see you’re still writing and blogging. Congratulations on the cookbooks! I look forward to checking them out.
